Adolescents and Adult Services
Target Population: Any Youth ages 14-22 or a parent/caregiver, either of which are experiencing some kind of mental health struggle. The goal of the Mental Health Peer Specialist Support Program will be to provide peer supports that will focus on youth or parent/caregiver stabilization, assistance, and support for mental health concerns, and prevent the need for the youth/family to be opened for services with the Department of Children, Youth and Families and/or the Juvenile Probation Office. The Program should reduce the sense of isolation, orient families and youth to the child welfare and mental health systems, provide support during the delinquency system process (if applicable), bridge the gaps for waitlists for mental health supports/services, enable goal development and support attainment, and provide referrals and connections with community-based and formal supports. By effectively supporting youth and families attain safety and well-being by addressing the challenges created by diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health concerns, the intended goal is to provide increased supports to reduce. All services are provided by a Pennsylvania Certified Peer Support Specialist with both life experiences and various detailed training in providing the most effective treatment.
